about RCC
At Rodeo Creek Court (RCC), we have proudly completed eight homes and moved in eight families since breaking ground in August of 2020. It is an exciting time at RCC, as we enter the Home Stretch with a goal to complete the last three homes by the summer of 2024.
RCC is our eleven-home development in the Live Oak neighborhood of Santa Cruz, and it is the community where eleven hardworking local families call home or soon will!
Families of RCC
Several RCC homeowners are local educators, some are business owners, government employees, single parents, and two families are CZU Fire survivors. All have seen the community come to life as they have helped build each other’s homes while completing their 500 hours of “sweat equity.” Their kids have gotten to know each other and already play together. Soon they will play together on the playground and community garden being built at the back of the complex.
Sierra and Taj and their two young children will be moving into the ninth RCC home. Sierra says, “Getting our Habitat home feels like finally standing on solid ground.”
Jona will be moving into the tenth RCC home. As a single mom with two older children, the whole family has contributed “sweat equity” to construction of their home.
And lastly, in the eleventh home, Veronica, Brian, and their son, Santi, are excited to finally have a place that works for Brian's needs as a paraplegic, after making do for years in rentals that make the tasks of daily living harder.
